Motor control refers to the control of motor start, acceleration, operation, deceleration and stop. There are different requirements and purposes according to different types of motors and their use occasions. For the motor, through the motor control, the motor can achieve the purpose of fast start, fast response, high efficiency, high torque output and high overload capacity.
1、 Motor speed control
Motor speed control methods include series resistance speed control, frequency conversion speed control, pole changing speed control, vector control, direct torque control, etc.
Series resistance speed regulation is mainly used for asynchronous motor, and the range of speed regulation is limited by the maximum torque of motor.
Variable frequency speed regulation is applicable to induction motor. The purpose of speed regulation is achieved by adjusting synchronous speed.
Pole changing speed regulation produces 1 / 2, 1 / 3... Speed by changing the number of poles of the motor.
2、 Motor start control
The starting mode of three-phase asynchronous motor includes full voltage direct starting, step-down starting and increasing rotor circuit resistance starting.
Depressurization start. It mainly includes autotransformer start, star delta change start, variable voltage start and so on. When the asynchronous motor starts, the rotor is in the static state, and the starting current is large. The starting current can be reduced by reducing the voltage. Since the starting torque of asynchronous motor is proportional to the square of voltage, it is necessary to ensure that the motor has a certain starting ability for step-down starting.
Increase rotor loop start. It is suitable for wound rotor, deep groove rotor and double cage rotor, but it can not be used for squirrel cage rotor.

Start of single-phase asynchronous motor. Including capacitor start, resistance start, PTC start, cover pole start, etc. Because the single-phase winding of induction motor can not produce rotating magnetic potential when the rotor is stationary, the asynchronous motor with single-phase winding can not start itself. For this reason, it is necessary to install an auxiliary winding with 90 ° to the main winding on the single-phase asynchronous motor. The winding is mainly used for starting the motor. When the motor is started, the winding can be cut off or used for the operation of the motor.
Variable frequency start. During variable frequency starting, the change rate of starting voltage and frequency is usually set. When the motor runs to 60% to 80% of the rated speed, the rated frequency is added to the motor, which is directly brought into synchronization. Asynchronous motor drives start similar.
